Welcome to Weekly Round-Up No. 39! This week we feature the debut releases by Upstairs Open, Tessa Dixson, The Yada Yada Yadas, Megan Lilly, Bermuda Angels, Pin Ups and Amber Suns. Enjoy the music!
Upstairs Open – You Got Love
Beautiful ambient pop by new UK duo Daniel James and Courtney Paytner as Upstairs Open. With a calm build, subtle guitars and their intertwining vocals, their debut single “You Got Open” is a true sophisticated and sonic pleasure!
Tessa Dixson – Prayer
Belgian singer Tessa Dixson has been around for a bit longer, getting attention with her featured vocals on Stereoclip’s dance tune “Don’t try“. Now she finally releases her official self-written debut single “Prayer”. It’s an amazing, slightly dark pop song in which her vocals really stand out. A welcome debut!
The Yada Yada Yadas – Oceans
Alternative rock as it should be: raw yet melodic, with a major focus on guitars, and a sense of musical history. It almost sounds like The Yada Yada Yadas bring an ode to great 90s rock music with their debut song “Oceans”!
Megan Lilly – Tainted Rosewater
New singer-songwriter Megan Lilly debuts with a calm, ethereal pop ballad. “Tainted Rosewater” has a mellow, almost loungy atmosphere, and features multi-layered vocals and subtle drops of water.
Bermuda Angels – On The Run
In just a few weeks, there has been a lot written about the Bermuda Angels, the musical and romantic partnership of Ben Jones and Sophie Kadow. And rightfully so, because they bring something special! Their first singe “On The Run” is very cinematic and blends many genres and styles. There are traces of pure soundtrack music, obviously, but also psychedelic rock, noisepop and electronica. The combination of the music and the video is an experience! Epic!
Pin Ups – You Make Me Feel So Sick
Powerpop meets post-punk! Pin Ups are three young guys from London, UK. In just three minutes they know how to convince with their energetic, guitar driven indiepop! “You Make Me Feel So Sick” will brighten up air waves, and rock the dancefloors!
Amber Suns – Free
New UK band Amber Suns release their debut song after a year’s hard work. They aim high with an accessible slow poprock tune called “Free”. By citing influences like Coldplay and The Script you have an idea of both their music and ambition.
