Weekly Round-Up 41

Welcome to Weekly Round-Up No. 41! This week we feature the debut releases by Delsbo Beach ClubCassidy Shooster and Mahler. And we review new singles by Miles PascallFond Of Rudy and Jo Marches. Enjoy the music!

Delsbo Beach Club – All The Way Home

Upcoming Swedish band Delsbo Beach Club debut with a delightful indiepop tune. Part dreampop, part synthpop, with a sincere indie feel to it; you can still hear their DIY bedroom studio sound. We love it, and expect to hear much more from them in the future!

Miles Pascall – Waltz Of Woe

When you take influences from soul, blues and poetry you get the magical sound of Miles Pascall. On his new single “Waltz Of Woe” he sings close to the mic, while a repeating piano melody supports him. Both the background noises and Pascall’s voice make the song sound and feel like an old 78 phonographic record that was just discovered. Creative and poignant.

Cassidy Shooster – Waste

We can’t believe singer-songwriter Cassidy Shooster is only 17 years old! Her debut single “Waste” sounds so incredibly mature, combining electronica with pure soul music. Dark and intriguing.

Fond Of Rudy – To Be Mine

We love the retro synthpop sound of UK band Fond Of Rudy! We’ve been fans since their debut EP “ONE”. It’s cool to hear that they stay true to their uplifting, slightly tropical, alt-pop sound. But we also dig the 80s influences that seep through since their “Say Something” single, and are also heard on the new single “To Be Mine”. Immediate, catchy, and a truly memorable pop single.

Mahler – Sheria

New Belgian band Mahler just blow us away! What an amazing debut single! “Sheria” is a synth-heavy downtempo pop song with a surprisingly catchy refrain. And we really dig the guitar solo. The mysterious and seductive music video deserves special attention. We expect nothing less than an indie chart hit in (at least) Belgium and The Netherlands.

Jo Marches – Breaks My Heart

Last year Dutch band Jo Marches‘ debut EP “Silver & Gold” made an impact with indie blogs all over the world. Their psychedelic synthpop sound touched many music lovers. They return with a new EP soon, from which “Breaks My Heart” is the first single. The song has dark, haunting melodies and vocals, with persistent marching beats underneath, which emphasize the urgency of the lyrics. We feel the heartbreak. An amazing return, and we can’t wait for the full EP.
