Welcome to Weekly Round-Up No. 33! This week we feature debut releases by Luxury Death, Sultan Shakes and Miss Pompeii. Enjoy the music!
Luxury Death – Radiator Face
“Radiator Face” is the debut single by Luxury Death, the new band of Ben Thompson (former Nai Harvest). Together with his girlfriend Meg Williams he created an enjoyable guitar pop song with a lo-fi sound to it, which reminds us of Throwing Muses and Breeders. Ben and Meg’s voices sound great together, making this almost a duet. More music from the bedroom please!
Miss Pompeii – Haru Haiku
The debut delivery “Haru Haiku” by Australian singer Claire Whiting is a gripping indietronica ballad with an ethereal beauty. That is due to both the electronic music as well as Whiting’s tender vocals. They work very well together, even enforcing each other. Whiting says it is the first time she composed a song without a guitar. We think she should continue doing so, because this is such a beautiful song!
Sultan Shakes – Interstellar Love
First offering by Sultan Shakes is pure space disco! We love how the dubby bass and the percussive rhythm create a funky track. And the layered synth melodies make this a galactic adventure. If the music won’t get you higher on the dance floor, the falsetto vocals will! Interstellar love indeed.
