Weekly Round-Up 46

Welcome to Weekly Round-Up No. 46! This week we feature debut releases by J. Bernardt, Lee Triffon, Bellatrix and Totally. Enjoy the music!

J. Bernardt – Calm Down

“Calm Down” by J. Bernardt, is the debut song by Jinte Deprez, guitarist and vocalist of Belgian band Balthazar. His solo song is very different from the band’s sound. It’s slower, and there is more use of electronica. It reminds us of Chet Faker. “Calm Down” has a beautiful build with a slightly exotic feel and a cool humming refrain. Excellent!

Lee Triffon – Silver Bullet Gun

Six months ago Lee Triffon launched her solo project under her own name, debuting with the brilliant “Different Sun”. At the time we interviewed Lee about her musical adventures. And now her debut EP is here! A sonic world of it’s own. Every song sounds hypnotic and cinematic, with detailed production and a dark undertone. It includes the previous two singles, and adding two new ones and an orchestral version of “Mirrors In The Sand”. “Silver Bullet Gun” is our new favourite.

Bellatrix – Still Lookin’ For

Weird & Wonderful, this extraordinary debut by Bellatrix, a beatboxer/singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom. She combines the wordbeats and attitude of M.I.A., the joyful funk of CSS, Santigold’s sparkle and the electro-soul of FKA Twigs. Yes, that is very much possible! Bellatrix is currently working on her debut EP. You can help her out if you want. She will be huge in no time with her daring and refreshing sound.

Totally – Falling Apart

Totally are a London five-piece formed in late 2015. “Falling Apart” is their debut single, and it is something special! The band melts together different styles into a melancholic, dreamy love ballad. You can hear a blend of 60s girl group, R&B harmonies, slow surfpop and lo-fi garage rock. Sincere and touching.
