X-DOG – Drunk In The Quarry
Five guys making classic power pop along the lines of The Posies: vocal harmonies, catchy chorus and loads of guitar hooks. The song celebrates youth and love, and is perfect for your summer road trips. But it’s the melancholic touch of the vocals that makes this song stand out. They make the song completely believable and you will remember your own youthful adventures and decisions. Quite amazing that this is a debut release. Timeless power pop.

Hamil – Roam With Me
The debut single by Hamil Rich is a beautiful 80s sounding song with dreamy melodies. The song is about him coping with schizo-phrenia, something not much covered in pop music. It was recorded months ago but was just released last week. In the meantime he worked on his debut album “Weights” that will be released in May. Brave and vulnerable pop music.

Fauna Twin – Water On Mars
Only recently the duo of Claire Jaquemard and Owain Ginsburg known as Pankhabilli changed their name to Fauna Twin. The song “Water On Mars” is their official debut single, a song that first appeared under the Pankhabilli moniker. It’s a dark pulsating synth pop track with a brooding atmosphere. Together with Jaquemard’s vocals it reminds us of PJ Harvey and Bat For Lashes. An amazing first offering with hopefully a lot more to come!

My Heart The Brave – Runner
New single “Runner” by Caspar Hesselager from Denmark, half of Palace Winter. Last year his debut EP was released, simply called “My Heart The Brave”. His sound is very much synth-based, and has an 80s feel to it. His new single has the same sound, but more cinematic. At the 4:40 minute mark the song turns into an epic club track with a long pulsating instrumental part. Superb!

Tom Redwood – I’ve Fallen For You
Mellow electropop track by Swedish newcomer Tom Redwood. “I’ve Fallen For You” has a slow build with every few bars added something that makes this track into a song. The delicate vocals stand out. Backed by promotional machine Sony Music this will be a big indiepop hit.

Basement Revolver – Johnny
Basement Revolver is a band from Ontario, Canada. Their demo “Mountains” from last year was a slow, lo-fi indie-folk song. Very much different from their debut which was released this week. “Johnny” is a classic lo-fi indiepop song with fuzzy guitars and a touch of shoegaze. Sweet in both sound and lyrics, this is a great song to get hooked on.

Slovenlie – Disaster
Slovenlie is a musician & producer from London. “Disaster” is her debut single. It’s a dark electropop song with some industrial influences, driven by a synthetic bassline. She is clearly on the darker side of the electropop spectrum, close to Fever Ray, but not as close as Zola Jesus. A perfect balance between pop and a more darker moody sound. Very exciting debut!
